Intangible Economy Profiles 2026
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has released its new Intangible Economy Profiles 2026, providing accessible country-level snapshots of the latest trends in intangible investment.
Drawing on the latest edition of the World Intangible Investment Highlights, the profiles bring together ready-to-use statistics and illustrative charts, making it easier to explore and compare how economies invest in intangible assets – from software and data to research and development, design, brands and organizational capital.
The profiles are part of WIPO’s broader Intangible Assets in the Global Economy program, developed by WIPO’s IP and Innovation Ecosystems Sector, Department for Economics and Data Analytics, in partnership with Luiss Business School.
A key output of this collaboration is the Global INTAN-Invest Database, which provides the underlying harmonized data on intangible investment and supports international comparisons across economies. Together with the annual World Intangible Investment Highlights and the new country profiles, the database contributes to improving the evidence available on an increasingly important – but traditionally difficult to measure – component of investment.
