Cecilia Jona-Lasinio, Professor of Applied Economics at Luiss Business School and member of the Global INTAN-Invest team, participated in the 4th OECD Blue Sky Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation Data and Indicators, held at the OECD Conference Centre in Paris from 14 to 16 September 2026.

Held only once every decade, the OECD Blue Sky Forum is a major international gathering dedicated to shaping the future of science, technology and innovation measurement, bringing together policymakers, statisticians, researchers and experts from around the world to discuss emerging data needs and new approaches to evidence for policymaking.

Jona-Lasinio contributed to the plenary panel “Building trustworthy data, statistics and intelligence ecosystems for science and innovation policy in the AI era: what role for public data institutions?” The session explored how public institutions can respond to AI, new data sources and advanced analytics while ensuring the quality, transparency and reliability of evidence for science and innovation policy.

As part of her contribution, Jona-Lasinio discussed the growing importance of intangible assets and the significant gaps that remain in their measurement, with more than 60% of intangible investment still not captured by official statistics. She also highlighted how research infrastructures can complement official statistics, referring to Global INTAN-Invest and EUKLEMS & INTANProd as examples of initiatives helping to broaden the evidence base on intangible investment.

Her contribution also drew on the World Intangible Investment Highlights 2026, developed by WIPO and Luiss Business School, bringing recent evidence on intangible investment into the wider discussion on the future of economic and innovation measurement.
