The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in collaboration with Luiss Business School, successfully hosted the second edition of the Global INTAN-Invest Conference, held on 5–6 May 2025 at Villa Blanc, the headquarters of Luiss Business School in Rome. This event marked a significant milestone in fostering the global dialogue on investment in intangible assets.

The conference focused on the critical importance of investment in intangible assets, such as research and development (R&D), software, data, brands, design, and organizational capital. These assets are vital drivers of economic progress in today’s knowledge-based economy. The Global INTAN-Invest research team presented harmonized cross-country measures of intangible assets, providing up-to-date and crucial insights on the most recent dynamics of intangible investments designed to support informed policymaking and strategic decision-making.

The event attracted a diverse array of participants, including representatives from international organizations, government bodies, academia, industries, and civil society. Together, they engaged in deep discussions surrounding the global impact and significance of intangible investments. The conference agenda also included special remarks from various experts, including those from Brazil, the People’s Republic of China, and Japan, adding nuanced perspectives to the discussion.

The conference underscored the pressing need for collaborative global efforts to measure, understand, and harness intangible investments effectively. The insights shared by participants will help shape strategies at both national and international levels, ensuring sustainable economic growth and innovation.

This seminal gathering continues to drive awareness and action toward recognizing intangible assets as key components of modern economic systems, paving the way for deeper analysis in the years ahead. Drawing on the expert feedback gathered during the conference, the World Intangible Investment Highlights 2025 report, co-published by WIPO & Luiss Business School, will be released on 9 July in Geneva.
